Seek Wisdom

The Path To Greatness. Part 1.

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Over the last several months I’ve been listening to more sermons from men of God. I noticed the intros always begin with the importance of wisdom.

People have the desire for greatness but very rarely do they attain it. Why? What makes the difference between an ordinary man and a great man? Many things; but one of them is wisdom.

I’ve encountered people who want to do something for God or do something they’ve seen me do but very rarely do they want to go on the journey with me.

They ask “how do I grow spirituality”, “how do I balance my studies with all these extra-curriculars”.

Once I start inviting them for meetings or recommending books and Bible study plans or sermons, they vanish. And that is why you’ll keep wishing and die wishing. That’s not a curse it’s the truth.

My father always used to encourage my brother and I to read young. I never really took it seriously till I actually started doing it. There’s a world of knowledge that you don’t know. It saves you time!

Seek spiritual wisdom. Find out how God operates and how to operate in the spiritual realm. Seek God’s principles of doing things.

And then balance that with wisdom on certain topics like business, finance etc tailored to what you want to become. I want to resume fiction writing and so I’ve been watching YouTube videos, reading blog posts and getting different books so I can avoid unnecessary mistakes.

One of my new favorite YouTube channels is Hook. They talk about how different giants in fashion, food and many more came to be. It inspires and teaches me. One thing I’ve found consistently amongst these men besides their tendency to take risks is their quest for wisdom.

God does not perform magic. Seek wisdom. If it wasn’t important Solomon wouldn’t have written so extensively on it in proverbs.

So you want to receive wisdom. Where do you begin?

The Bible

Before you look for wisdom anywhere, begin with the Bible. Many Christians haven’t even read the whole Bible and yet still find time to be reading on zodiacs and the 48 laws. Stop that! Study the scriptures so you can filter any knowledge you receive through the lease of the word.

Books

I would begin first with Christian authors because worldly wisdom is not the way. First read Christian books on finance before going in for a worldly one.

YouTube

Instead of heading to the app to watch all manner of things, why don’t you do some research. There’s so much on that app!!

Sermons

This should have even come before YouTube. Ever since I discovered the power of sermons I listen to at least one a day. I listen to Apostle Joshua Selman, pastor Chris and pastor Enoch. It’s a never-ending pool of wisdom.

People who have been there before

Don’t be proud. Learn to keep quiet and listen to those who have gone ahead of you. They may be adults. Keep quiet and listen to them. They may also be younger than you. But they’ve done something and been somewhere you haven’t; humble yourself and listen to them.

Church

This should have come first again but let’s talk about it last. Go to church on Sunday and gain wisdom. Fellowship with the brethren because you don’t know everything.
